One molecule of sugar requires 56 molecules of magnesium, and other minerals, for your body to metabolize it. Wisely enough, whole fruits grown naturally have exactly that 1:56 ratio needed so you can eat as much as you want and you won’t develop nutrient deficiencies. Conversely, when you eat foods with added or concentrated sugar, your body has to steal magnesium that’s desperately needed in another biological process just to digest that sugar.
